About this Walk

Bordered to the north by the Bow River, to the south by the CPR tracks and to the east by 9 St SW and 14 St SW to the west, Downtown West is the most densely populated neighbourhood in Calgary. However, it has not seen the same level of investment of neighbourhoods like East Village. Home to mostly apartments and condominiums, residents of these “vertical villages” have long called for increased amenities and services.

This Jane’s Walk will delve into the history of the neighbourhood as well as paint a picture for the future.

Join us as we take unique looks at some largely unknown sites in Downtown West:

  • Shaw Millennium Park
  • Mewata Armoury
  • Contemporary Calgary/Former Telus World of Science building
  • Avatamsaka Monastery
