About this Walk

When we connect with people we don’t know, our circle of connection and understanding expands. We live in a world where conversations with strangers are rare and yet can be powerful. This walk is an opportunity to connect with new people in a casual setting, while ambling through Calgary’s Beltline and experiencing some of its parks, public art and history.

The walk starts and finishes at Humainologie’s new Gallery + Store located at 1514 – 7 Street SW. Come early and take in a short film or two before we head out. Humainologie is a local film producer specializing in short documentary films that share human stories in order to promote empathy and inclusion.

During our leisurely-paced walk, your guide will help facilitate new connections, sharing and understanding. You will be given a set of question cue cards, there will be timed partner changes, as well as some gentle suggestions throughout the walk to encourage empathic listening. If this sounds really uncomfortable to you, that could be just the reason to try it. Who knows, you could have an impactful exchange, meet a lifelong friend, or simply enjoy yourself.

Come walk with us! Everyone is welcome. (Should you have any special requirements in order to partake, please let us know in advance so we can try our best to ensure you can be accommodated.)
